NIGHT SHELTER
The Kingsport Homeless Ministry recognizes the humanity in each of our neighbors experiencing homelessness and is excited to fill a gap in our community by operating a low-barrier night shelter at Grace House. The space provides safe, dry sleeping accommodations for up to 20 women and 20 men. Guests also have access to laundry facilities, showers, and personal hygiene products while staying in our shelter. In the interest of safety, Grace House’s shelter will not host families or individuals under the age of 18.
GRACE HOUSE'S SHELTER IS NOW OPEN!
We are currently operating at reduced capacity.
Check-in for the shelter begins at 4:00 p.m. nightly. Shelter beds are provided on a first come, first served basis. Check-in ends at 10:00 p.m. or when all available beds are filled (whichever happens first).
If you would like to help support the daily operation of Grace House's shelter,
we invite you to donate or volunteer with us.
What Does Low-Barrier Mean?
Being “low-barrier” means we accept our unhoused neighbors as they are and we provide a safe space for those who may have no other options. Low-barrier shelters have limited or minimal entry requirements, making it easier for unhoused neighbors struggling with substance use, mental health, or behavioral health disorders to access shelter beds and services. With an emphasis on relationship building and harm reduction, low-barrier shelters encourage our unhoused neighbors to utilize services by eliminating barriers to engagement.
